Wholesale Printing Direct can receive many electronic file formats. InDesign, QuarkXpress, PageMaker, FreeHand, Illustrator and Photoshop are preferred. Word, PowerPoint and CorelDRAW are accepted, however, we encourage clients to supply print quality PDF files to ensure text flow and correct page layout. (Many times, these file formats have missing fonts and embedded images that cannot be used for print.)

Image files should have the correct resolution for all gray-scale and four-color images. The resolution for raster images should be 300 dpi and 600-800 dpi for bitmap line art scans. Images that are being resized to a larger image size for final print need to be received with enough resolution to print at that enlarged size. (For example, if an image received is 300 dpi at 5x7, but is placed at 200 percent, the effective resolution is now 150 dpi and will not print to optimum standards.)

Image files should be saved in the correct color space at which they are expected to print. For example, if a scan is line art, it should be scanned in a bitmap format. A halftone photo scan should be in a gray-scale mode. A four-color scan should be in a CMYK format for print, not RGB. Images that are received in RGB format will be converted to CMYK and will most likely not match the original screen preview.
